Firefighters Receive Training on Responding to Electric Vehicle Fires

Nivofire electric vehicle fire response training

As Nivofire, we conducted a training program on responding to electric vehicle fires for the staff of the Elazig Municipality Fire Department, which saw high participation. During the training held at the fire department’s training center, proper response methods for electric vehicle fires and the use of fire suppression blankets were covered through hands-on exercises.

With the rapidly increasing use of electric vehicles today, fire response methods have also become a new field of expertise. In the training we organized in this context, we covered in detail the correct response techniques for electric vehicle fires, critical points to consider, and current fire safety approaches. In the first part of the training program, theoretical information was shared regarding the correct response techniques to be applied during a fire and the use of fire extinguishing equipment. In the second part, a practical drill was conducted on the fire containment blanket, which is used as an effective solution in electric vehicle fires.

Next-Generation Products for Next-Generation Fires

Ahmet Fatih Yucel, Fire Chief of the Elazig Municipality, stated during post-training evaluations that electric vehicle fires cannot be brought under control using traditional methods and that fire suppression blankets have been recommended by international authorities as the most effective solution in this regard. Emphasizing that electric vehicle fires have different dynamics compared to those of fossil fuel-powered vehicles, Yucel noted that intervention with specialized equipment and techniques has become essential. It was reported that this training, conducted using the fire containment blanket developed by Nivofire, has significantly enhanced the firefighting teams’ on-site response capabilities. As Nivofire, taking into account the increasing number of electric vehicles and charging stations, we will continue our training and drill activities aimed at enhancing the knowledge and expertise of professional teams in the field of fire safety.
